Our work :: Bringing designer furniture to life for Pengelly Design
The brief
Around May 2008 we were asked to work with Simon Pengelly on some fantastic new furniture designs. We were to take his sketches from the earliest stages of development all the way to manufacturing, using our technical skills, knowledge of weight distribution and expertise in safety analysis to suggest changes to the designs.
The result
We developed initial 3D models, and working with Pengelly designed armatures and fixing points for the structure of the chair. We then produced technical drawings for prototyping, informed by feedback from the client, furniture manufacturers and upholsterers. Two of the new chair designs on which we worked, Bison and Venus, were launched at the 100%design Show London in 2008 and 2009, respectively.
